We've had the happy privilege of photographing weddings in so many impressive event venues. Among our favorites, few are more unique and inspiring than Mountain Shadows in Paradise Valley. At this incredibly picturesque locale, the romance of iconic Southwestern style meets mid-century cool. The result: truly distinctive wedding photos.
Mountain Shadows lives up to its name with a scenic location between the Camelback and Mummy Mountains. You're assured that every photo gets a glorious desert background of saguaro cacti and watercolor sunsets.
But what makes this venue a stand-out is that such natural desert beauty teams with a sophisticated, modern vibe stemming from Mountain Shadows' mid-century roots. Back in the day, the resort was a playground for some serious Hollywood types (did someone say Liz Taylor and John Wayne?) and a bit of that fifties glam remains. Although the property underwent a complete remodeling as recently as 2017, the renovation wisely retained many elements of the original 1950's style. It's a setting tailor made for some really innovative photography. First looks, couples portraits and group shots are simply stunning against the background of the venue's clean lines and architectural details like the retro circle-in-the-square ornamental wall.
Events of all sizes will find a perfect match with one of Mountain Shadows' many event spaces. The property offers 12,500 square feet of indoor space and 25,000 square feet of scenic outdoor space, including a beautiful terrace and rooftop deck. These versatile spaces can accommodate events from 20 to 250 guests.
You will definitely want to take full advantage of Mountain Shadows' scenic locale with an outdoor ceremony. The wide-open spaces of the lush Mountain Shadows Lawn is the ideal venue for your vows. We'll capture the dramatic moments as the bride makes her grand entrance from the Camelback Overlook down to the expansive lawn, and the sweet romance as you say your "I Do's" surrounded by the gorgeous desert landscape.
Wedding guests can channel their inner Don Draper with a stylish rooftop cocktail hour with a fifties flair. Mountain Shadows' 4,000 square foot Camelback Overlook rooftop deck features a great built-in bar and an exquisite panoramic view of Camelback Mountain.
Natural light is a photographer's best ally, and the open design of Mountain Shadows' event spaces makes optimal use of the outdoors and the desert setting. The innovative design of the Paradise Ballroom, with its retractable glass wall, lets you bring the outdoors in to your ballroom celebration. The floor to ceiling glass wall opens onto an outdoor terrace, providing you with a grand total of 9,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor space, all with great Camelback Mountain views.
